I don't know whether you can call this a concert review, but it's something like that. Read the impressions here.

The Copenhagen show at the venue "Loppen" blew my mind. As Morten said: "one long highlight." They really have come full circle. This is the way I'll take my rock'n'roll any day!! And the fantastic new interpretation of "Ended Up A Stranger" that closed the show was really sublime — fast and furious. The setlist was almost identical to Aarhus although they didn't play Drown and Wake Me Up Before I Sleep.

I took some photos.

Aarhus, Denmark; Oct. 9, 2003

Morten writes:
Last night's show in Aarhus, Denmark, was really great. It is difficult to discuss highlights since it was one long highlight. It was wonderful to hear old favorites like Bordertown and Findlay's Motel again. Also Prayer for You was fantastic. The band seemed as tight and powerful as when I first heard them in 1994 at the Setting the Woods on Fire tour.

Special moments at this concert: When they played Man from Reno, Carla came from the stage to dance with us, the people in the front row, and yes—she's a real " Dancing Queen" :-)
Coming back on the stage for the last encore Chris had his Jack Daniel's bottle with him and he handed it out to us so we could enjoy! When he got the bottle back they started Ended up a Stranger. It is the real highlight for me & as Marc already mentioned: " Pure Walkabouts craftsmanship."

After seeing the Walkabouts 3 evenings in a row here in the Netherlands, my voice is gone & my feet are tired but it was fantastic. The first time I saw them was in Utrecht when they had just released Scavenger, a long time ago. Then they were loud, lots of guitar & 10 minutes of Like a Hurricane, etc. Through the years the songs became more introspective and intense, and now they've reached the point were they mix it all together and we get "the best of both worlds."

Cees writes
The band even played better than in Utrecht last Friday. It was obvious that the jetlags were gone and they were really having fun on the stage. Especially Carla— she was very enthusiastic. During the finale of Man From Reno, she jumped off the stage and started dancing with a few people in the audience, right before my eyes. The band played louder than in Utrecht and maybe that is why it sounded as if they were even more rockin' than Friday.

Gent, Oct. 2

Johan-Lou writes:
Yesterday evening in Gent, The Walkabouts showed how strong the best songs can be. Even after ten years of listening to their music, and after shows that really got me from head over heart to toe, I can say: they're better than ever. I don't have a setlist, but there's a good remedy to that: go and see them on their new tour. You'll hear some of the best songs ever written.
